Turn a small table into a readable chart.
Demo · A demonstration of choosing labels, units and a chart type for a fictional dataset.
Demo content: original sample text for testing the website layout. Replace or edit before using it as a finished publication.
Define the sample data
This chart tutorial uses invented counts for three reading sessions: Monday, 12 pages; Wednesday, 18 pages; Saturday, 15 pages. These are sample values, not a study or a claim about reading habits.
Choose labels and units
Use the session names as labels and pages as the unit. A bar chart can compare these three counts directly. Start the value axis at zero for this example and avoid decorative effects that obscure the bar lengths.
Explain the result
Give the chart a descriptive title such as “Pages read in three sample sessions.” Include the values in a table as well so readers can access the information without relying on colour or the chart alone. State that the dataset is fictional.
